SMI’s Core Values
· It is SMI’s firm
belief that
a healthy minister brings about
a healthy church or ministry. Therefore, we
have a passion for developing healthy ministers and investing intentionally
in the next generation of ministers while God has entrusted them to our
care.
· We believe part of SMI’s
role organizationally is
to teach about Kingdom giving. We want to empower
each member of His Body, the Church, to do their part in the way God has
called them to build His Kingdom – meeting Kingdom needs. As biblical
stewards, we merely manage what He has given us – our time, talents
and treasures – for His Kingdom, for His will, for His glory. Through
SMI’s program, we seek to inspire biblical stewardship – giving
all that we have because of all He has done.
· SMI embraces the philosophy
of
Bless those who bless you.
We seek to foster and embody generosity in SMI’s organizational practices
as well as among its student ministers and ministry partners. Through its
influence, SMI endeavors to multiply this truth as a way of life in others.
Bless as you have been blessed.
· SMI holds accountability
in high regard. Whether administrating organizationally or ministering relationally,
SMI seeks
to model and extend accountability. To welcome
accountability is an indication of self-awareness, maturity and health.
It is SMI’s hope that every student minister would develop and live
out an open and proactive acceptance of accountability both personally and
in their ministries.
· In SMI’s ministry, the phrase fundraising with integrity has emerged. With both excellence and transparency, fundraising is seen as motivated by a spirit of abundance – acknowledging one’s place among many in God’s Kingdom. While encouraging the act of raising funds for our specific ministry, the overall perspective should be one of recognizing God’s sovereignty in providing for all His ministries and humbly rejoicing as well when others are blessed with His resources.
· SMI strongly emphasizes
the importance
to cherish and respect people. Having a passion
for people is essential for effective ministry. High regard for investing
in people is inherent with a ministry call and the shepherding process.
At SMI, this begins with staff modeling such behavior in interacting with
its students and ministry partners while requiring this same emphasis in
its ministries performed by students. The hope is that this foundational
premise will be embraced and practiced by student ministers throughout their
life of ministry and extended in relationships with others.
